Listening--The Key to Strong Relationships
Is there a key to developing strong, effective relationships?
A key that has the potential to strengthen them as much as any other factor? There is. Listening is one of the most powerful abilities we possess for building strong relationships. This ability, or skill, requires being able to be present and involved with another human being. Hearing what's being said. Sometimes hearing what's not being said.
Listening involves giving someone your time and attention to understand their world without an agenda of fixing it or changing them. Because it seems like such a simple thing, we often assume that it is something about which we are already very knowledgeable.. But in many ways we aren't. In this world of broken relationships, interpersonal tension (and even hostility), failed marriages and alienated friendships, we know that something foundational is missing. Learning to listen can be a big step toward building, strengthening and restoring our relationships. Are you a person who listens well? Join us for this three hour class designed to help you become someone who does.
