Do you know what your personal style tends to be when it comes to approaching challenging situations? In this class, participants will learn about the major conflict styles, identify their own dominant style, and discuss the pros and cons of different approaches. Participants will also learn how to adapt their style and select the best approach based on the particular situation or conflict at hand. The class will help participants navigate challenging situations or conflicts with increased confidence, whether at home or at the office.

Julia Farmer is the Director of Ombuds Services and serves all staff, faculty, and students as the University Ombudsperson. Prior to coming to this role, she was Faculty Ombuds and Professor of Spanish. She completed her M.S. in Conflict Management at Kennesaw State University and her PhD in Romance Languages and Literatures at UC-Berkeley. Her interest in conflict management grew out of her work as chair of Faculty Senate, where she enjoyed working to facilitate agreements and promote collaboration across campus.
