Shine a Light Teacher Workshop
June 7-9, 2021

The Physics Program at The University of West Georgia in partnership with the American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT) welcomes Teachers in Grades 3-8 from Carroll, Paulding, Haralson, Heard and Coweta counties to participate in the 3-day Shine a Light Workshop to be held June 7-9, 2021 at the University of West Georgia.

The workshop will be led by nationally trained elementary physics instructors, Dave Todd and Ann Robinson. Participants will have the opportunity to work with the materials, make and share observations, and build a foundational understanding of shadows and how light travels. The relationship between gelatin shapes and light will part of the activity centered lessons using engineering design and inquiry. Literature connections with light will be explored as well. Workshop material is designed to meet local and state standards. Activities, methods and materials meet the following GSE: S4E2, S4P1, S5P1, S6E2, S8P4.

Registration is $25 and includes handouts, make and take materials, and lesson plans. Registration deadline is June 1, 2021.

CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY: (Refund deadline is: June 1, 2021) A refund less a $10.00 administrative fee will be issued upon notification by e-mail conted@westga.edu on or before deadline. Transfer requests will be granted at the discretion of the Shine a Light Teacher Workshop Director. Failing to notify Continuing Education using guidelines listed above, the University will retain all registration fees.
