Name	Biography
Angela Ashworth	Angela graduated from the University of Florida with her B.A. in Communication Sciences & Disorders (Speech Language Pathology & Audiology). While at UF, Angela was a member of the Signing Gators Club and volunteered countless hours working with deaf, hard of hearing and special needs children and adults. She also took ASL I, II, III, and IV while in college as well as several classes after graduation. Angela is fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) and holds a proficiency rating of Advanced Plus on the Sign Language Proficiency Interview Rating Scale (SLPI), which is a scale for rating sign language communication skills that is based on highly skilled, knowledgeable native-like signers. In 2006, Angela moved to Georgia and began working at The Georgia School for the Deaf, GSD. She worked at GSD from 2007 to 2017 and held many positions there including Accountant, Assistant to the Principal, Office Manager, Speech Language Pathologist, Speech Language Pathologist Aide, ASL Interpreter and Fund Raising Coordinator. She helped to establish the Athletic Booster Club and the Mascot program as well. She also had the unique opportunity to attend an intense ASL Immersion Course at Gallaudet University in Washington, DC., the world’s only university in which all programs and services are specifically designed to accommodate deaf and hard of hearing students. Angela currently teachers ASL classes both online and in person. She is currently a contracted teacher for several charter and home schools in the USA and teaches ASL to students working on obtaining their foreign language requirements for graduation. She is an active volunteer at local schools, daycare centers, senior centers and community theaters, teaching ASL and deaf awareness and acceptance, as well as signs, to incorporate into theatrical performances to students, teachers and members of the community. Angela is a technical advisor and ASL tutor for independent entertainment companies and works closely with actors and musicians to learn and correctly sign their lines in ASL for both on screen and live performances. in 2022, Angela was contracted to teach ASL with the Northern Lights Santa Academy, the largest Santa Claus school in the Southeast which provides quality education to all Santas, Mrs. Clauses and Elves of the Christmas community. For the past 17 years, Angela has offered private tutoring to deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing individuals in both English and ASL. Angela is the founder and C.E.O. of both I Love Learning ASL and Crest Pointe Entertainment Group, LLC. which specializes in the booking, management and promotions of live music. Angela resides in Villa Rica, GA with her husband, and together they are the real life "Brady Bunch," having six children between the two of them.

Steven Broome	Photography is an art form like no other. It captures a particular moment and freezes reality for one precious second. For Steven Broome, photography has been his life’s joy since he got his first camera in the fourth grade. As part of the UWG family, Steven channels his passion into creating stories and memories through photography and other visual technology. Steven grew up in Chickamauga, TN, but has lived in Carrollton for most of his life. He has been part of the University of West Georgia family for more than two decades, having received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the university and joining the staff in 1989 and retiring in 2020. He has received several honors, including an APEX Award of Excellence for a photo taken on campus just following September 11, 2001, as well as being part of the team that won a CASE Gold Award for Campaign Publications during the UWG Centennial. His latest career highlight is being part of the team in charge of UWG’s “Go West” campaign. As former Associate Director of Visual Services, Steven supervised a team of skilled photographers and videographers who work hard at showing the story behind UWG and what makes it great. He finds inspiration in the unbridled spirit embodied by the UWG community. Steven collects old cameras, a collection that has grown to include approximately 100 different types. In his words: “these are the tools that allowed regular people to document their own history, and it's that vernacular history that I find very interesting.”
Patrick Clinton	Dr. Patrick Clinton is an Assistant Professor of Mass Communications in the School of Communication, Film, and Media, at the University of West Georgia.
Marty Davis M.A., C.P.P.	Marty received his B.S. from Valdosta State University and his M.A. from LaGrange College. Before coming to the University of West Georgia, Marty was the director of continuing education and professional services department at Bainbridge State College. He has completed additional education in Project Management, Human Resources, and Manufacturing. He is a certified instructor in all lines of insurance, CPR/FA, and drivers education. Current course instruction include Customer Service, Soft Skills Training, Consulting, and other business or organizational needs.

Cindy Johnson	Cindy Johnson, PhD, RN, CHSE is the Assistant Dean of Experiential Learning Center and Associate Professor in the Tanner Health System School of Nursing at the University of West Georgia.
Nathan Lawres	Dr. Nathan Lawres is an archaeological anthropologist focused primarily on the Precolumbian Southeastern United States. The primary focus of my research is in South Florida, specifically in the northern Everglades. It is here that the Mayaimi and Serrope, associated with the Belle Glade archaeological culture, lived, dwelling in a largely aqueous landscape. My research on the Belle Glade archaeological culture addresses multiple anthropological concerns. On a broader scale, I am interested in the ways that people interact with and live within their environment, which is related to numerous facets of human culture. My most recent research delves into how the ways people understand their lived world or reality (i.e., ontologies) affects the ways they live within and interact with that world. This, in turn, leads to specific cultural practices that are visible in the material record. Additionally, my research interests involve the intersections of archaeological practice and planning and development. I am currently involved in a project with colleagues aimed at evaluating ways we can shift the priorities afforded to archaeological and other cultural resources to increase the preservation of those resources for future generations. Dr. Lawres is an Assistant Professor of Anthropology and Director, Antonio J. Waring, Jr. Archaeological Laboratory at the University of West Georgia.
Joseph Lee	Coach Joe Lee manages the Varsity Esports teams at UWG. He lead the team to the Peach Belt Conference Championships during UWG's our inaugural year. Coach graduated from Rutgers University with a Bachelor's in Sport Management, where he also competed in collegiate intramural League of Legends for three years. He also coached League of Legends his last two years in college, where he completed a dual internship in Sport Management and Strength & Conditioning at St. Joseph's High School in Edison, NJ.

Cale Self	Cale Self is Professor of Music, Director of Athletic Bands, and Instructor of Euphonium & Tuba at the University of West Georgia in beautiful Carrollton, GA. Dr. Self directs the Marching Wolves of West Georgia and the Wolf Gang Basketball Pep Band, and conducts the Symphonic Band, Brass Ensemble, and Tuba Ensemble. He also currently serves as Music’s Program Coordinator at UWG. Holding degrees in music education and instrumental conducting from West Texas A&M University, Dr. Self also holds a doctorate in euphonium performance from the University of Georgia. His teachers include David Zerkel, John Lynch, Allen Crowell, Patrick Sheridan, Sam Pilafian, Gary Garner, Joe Nelson, and Joseph Cox. He began his career by teaching high school band in his hometown of Midland, TX. Dr. Self has performed at state, regional, national, and international conferences and festivals in Alabama, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. He has performed under conductors Keith Lockhart, JoAnn Falletta, Thomas Wilkins, Robert Moody, Ken Lam, Steven Smith, Kraig Williams, and Fred Mills. He is currently the euphonium faculty at the Brevard Music Center’s Low Brass Seminar. Dr. Self has participated in commissioning consortiums that have resulted in over thirty new works for euphonium, tuba, or concert band over the past decade, and has performed or conducted premiere performances of twenty of those pieces. Recent commission projects include several works by UWG alumnus Katahj Copley, including Limitless for tuba, euphonium, and piano, and a concerto for euphonium and band entitled Canvases. Dr. Self is an artist affiliate with Eastman Winds and Parker Mouthpieces. He is active in the state of Georgia and throughout the Southeast as a soloist, ensemble musician, conductor, clinician, and adjudicator.
