***Proof that you have had the COVID Vaccination is required by all Long Term Care Facilities where we conduct CNA Clinicals. There are currently no waivers being given for any reason, Health, Religious, Pregnancy or otherwise. During clinicals, you will probably have your temperature checked every day before entering the Facility and you will be required to wear a mask at all times while in the Facility. These are not UWG requirements. These requirements were deemed to be necessary by Facility Management in an effort to provide the greatest protection possible for the patients housed in their facilities. Until and unless COVID reaches the point where it is no longer considered a threat to the Health of their patients, CNA Instructors and Students are all contractually bound to honor whatever requirements put forth by the Facilities. If you have not already taken the COVID Vaccine and you are adamant that you are not going to take the COVID Vaccine it would not be practical to register for this CNA Course at this time. With this knowledge, if you do elect to register for this course and withdraw at a later date, you will be given a refund per the Tuition Refund Policy. If/when this policy changes, we will change this notification immediately.***

In order to register for the UWG Certified Nursing Assistant Program, you must be 18 years of age before the date on which the first clinical session takes place (See the Section below labeled "CLINICAL SCHEDULE").

The UWG Certified Nursing Assistant Program is approved through the Georgia Department of Community Health (GDCH) and meets standards outlined in the "Policies and Procedures for Nurse Aide Training Program (NATP)". The nurse aide course is taught in English ONLY. The course offers training to candidates that desire to become eligible for certification as a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA). The program provides a comprehensive course to train candidates to work in all health care facilities (e.g. nursing homes, hospitals, hospice, home health, etc.). The UWG CNA course is a total of 88 hours consisting of 64 hours classroom/lab instruction, and 24 hours of clinical practice in a long-term care facility. Upon completion of this course, those students successfully meeting all requirements will be given the opportunity to register to take the State CNA Certification test.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION:
This course is a total of 88 hours of which 64 hours are classroom/lab and 24 hours are clinicals. In order to be certified to register for the State CNA Certification Test you must complete all 88 hours. Attendance in this class every day is absolutely critical. Please review the course schedule and ensure that you have no known conflicts with any of the class dates listed. If you do, you should consider registering for another course. If you miss any instruction hours and cannot make them up, you will be offered a transfer to the next CNA course which has an open slot, or you will be given a tuition refund per our Tuition Refund Policy.

If you are currently registered to attend classes at UWG, please enter your 917 ID number when you register. You can pay your full tuition ($925.00) or choose the UWG Student Payment Plan. The UWG Student Payment Plan allows you to pay $575.00 at time of registration and the balance of $350.00 must be paid before the first day of class.

If you are not currently registered to attend classes at UWG, you can pay your full tuition ($995.00) or choose the Non-UWG Student Payment Plan. The Non-UWG Student Payment Plan allows you to pay $595.00 at time of registration and the balance of $400.00 must be paid before the first day of class.

The registration fee covers course instruction, textbook, necessary supplies, clinical supervision, 1 set of scrubs, a stethoscope, and a name badge. Students are personally responsible for the out of pocket cost of their Advantage Students Background/Drug Check (approximately $78.50), a Professional Liability Insurance Policy for clinicals (approximately $40.00), and the Certification Test Fee (currently $112.00). Before registering for this course, please be advised that adverse information on criminal background checks does hinder an individual from obtaining employment, and may also hinder an individual from participation in clinical rotation in some facilities.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS:
When you receive your registration confirmation, there will be documents attached containing important information regarding our course requirements. Please read all the attachments carefully. Course requirements must be addressed before the first day of class and all required documents given to the CNA Instructor on the first day of class. CLASS SCHEDULE:
The classroom/lab portion of the course will be conducted from Monday, August 15th through Monday, October 10th in the Murphy Building, 1st Level (Continuing Education), CNA Classroom and Skills Lab, Rooms 1130 A & B from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM. There will be no class on Monday, September 5th due to the Holiday.

COVID conditions permitting, Clinical sessions will be conducted on Saturday, October 15th, Sunday, October 16th, and Saturday, October 22nd at a long-term care facility. If not, clinicals will be conducted in the Murphy Building CNA Classroom/Lab. We will schedule both morning (6:30 A.M. to 2:30 P.M.) and evening (2:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M.) clinical sessions. The class will be split equally between the morning and evening clinical schedules. We will try to take into consideration each person's needs in developing the clinical schedules. If we reach an impasse, the date a student registered for the course will determine who has preference to attend which session. The State of Georgia dictates that no CNA student may work more than one (1) eight (8) hour shift per day during clinical rotations.

***Be advised that the Long-Term Care Facility that we utilize will not allow CNA students to enter their Facility without providing proof that they have had a COVID Vaccination. They also require a temperature check before entering the Facility and a mask must be worn at all times while in the Facility. These are not UWG requirements. These are the Facility requirements. These were put in place by Facility Management in compliance with their obligation to provide the greatest protection possible for the patients housed in their facility. We have no choice but to honor such requirements. You do not have to take the COVID Vaccination before the course starts. You can choose to wait until the first day of the course and talk with the CNA Instructor about the COVID situation, but be advised that you must comply with any mandates in force at the time your clinicals start or your only option will be to drop the course. At that time, any refund you receive would be based on our Tuition Refund Policy. Please take this into consideration before registering for one of our CNA courses.***

Certification test dates for this course have not yet been determined. If testing cannot be offered on-site at UWG, students will have to register at a Regional Test Site (RTS) of their choice. Information will be communicated once more details are known concerning the COVID-19 guidelines at that time.
