Title: Repositioning Africa in the 21st Century

The 23rd Annual Conference of the African Studies and Research Forum (ASRF) invites participants to present papers and roundtables on how Africa should reposition itself in the world politically, economically, socially, and in terms of global security. More specifically, some of the themes and issues to be addressed in this conference include: conflict and conflict resolution in Africa; Africa in the world economy; Regional cooperation and integration in Africa; Out of Africa: Migratory patterns and the Refugee crisis in Africa; the African Union at Twenty: Achievements, Problems and Prospects; Environmental issues in Africa; the status and role of the youth, women and civil society organizations in African development; the importance of education in African development; and the contribution of the African Diaspora to African development. The conference seeks to bring together researchers from around the world and from various disciplines to take stock of current research and foster communication across a variety of approaches to the study of Africa. In keeping with the spirit of diversity, we welcome abstracts for individual papers and roundtables that engage with various theoretical and methodological perspectives, topical issues, and policy-oriented solutions related to the conference’s theme. Selected papers might be considered for publication in the ASRF’s journal and book series.

CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY: (Refund deadline is: March 8, 2019) A refund less a $5.00 administrative fee will be issued upon notification by telephone (678-839-6615), FAX (678-839-2257), in person, or e-mail conted@westga.edu on or before deadline. Transfer requests will be granted at the discretion of the ASRF Event Manager. Failing to notify UWG Continuing Education using guidelines listed above, the University will retain all conference fees.
